Memorial day - 46

The subject of last week's Memorial day blog was the Clive of India statue located on the steps at the west end of King Charles Street.

At the base of the steps is a memorial that defines the start of the 21st Century, it is to the 202 victims of the Bali bombing.

They were killed in Kuta beach resort by a terrorist bomb on 12th October 2002.

The memorial designed by Gary Breeze, was unveiled by the Prince of Wales on 12th October 2006 and consists of a granite globe carved with 202 individually designed doves representing the individual victims who were from 28 countries, and an elegant sweeping wall carved with their names.
