The subject of Memorial day 18, on 10th October 2007, was the current Unilever Series exhibit in Tate Modern's Turbine Hall. The work by Doris Salcedo titled "Shibboleth" consists of a crack cut the length of the hall.
The first work in the series commissioned for the opening of Tate Modern in 2000 was by the French artist Louise Bourgeois. The work has returned as part of a major survey at the Tate, of the 95 year old artists work. But this time the giant spider sculpture, titled Maman, is not located in the Turbine Hall but in more natural surroundings adjacent to the Millennium Bridge.
The photos for the blog were taken on consecutive days. The first was a dry Autumn day, the next it was raining so I sought the shelter of the gallery.
